[Info-ingres] So we advertised for a new DBA...?

I've been running ABF applications on Ingres and Linux (CentOS) for 13 years ,that is,being the newest member of a team which had been involved for 20+ years now.Despite that we empower the 10+ biggest Greek hospitals on a national level,I think we are the only ones who use Ingres, at least in Greece, with Oracle dominating the scene.

This means that there's no one out in the market with the appropriate knowledge to be recruited and this has got an impact on the team as we've now have been reduced to just 7 people with no chance of refreshing.

No one is a certified Ingres DBA,we kinda do it all: programming, devops, interoperation, but as said the shortage is not restricted to DBA's only but to developers too.I mean how many still do ABF or OpenRoad?

The issue is more general than that and it has to do with the popularity of the tool and unfortunately marketing, thus that despite it being robust and versatile, properties that wouldn't make me consider a switch, it doesn't generate the necessary traction.
