...permits?

I spent some time today marvelling at what I first took to be a
seriously ridiculous database, stuffed with zillions of silly-looking
views and synonyms.

I was then shown the code that creates all that stuff and realized that
it was attempting to do what Ingres permits do.

Which led me to wonder why the permit machinery that exists in the
server has never been exposed in SQL.
