We have lots of C batch programs that connect to Ingres, currently they <br>
run on the same host as the db server. We'd like to split them up so <br>
the Ingres db runs on separate hardware.<br>

Currently the code connects to a plain database name 'db-live', <br>
unfortunately this has been hardcoded into lots of scripts / programs <br>
rather than having a central shared parameter.<br>

Is it possible inject a vnode into this e.g. newhost::db-live with <br>
out changing the connection string in the code? Recompiling and <br>
redeploying all the code would be difficult at best.<br>
<br>
So 'db-live' would become an alias for an Ingres.Net connection <br>
'newhost::db-live' that would direct off to the remote host somehow.<br>
<br>
Can we setup an Ingres.NET installation that accepts connections locally <br>
and transparently routes them off to the remote server?<br>
<br>
Or any other ideas?<br>
