Hi, <div><br></div><div>As far I remember you can explore Ingres/Net configuration and default_vnode parameter. </div><div><br></div><div>You app still connect to a "local" db, but in real the db is in an other machine. </div><div><br></div><div>You can also imagine your batch running in a client only installation with default_vnode configured to the machine you want they connect to. </div><div><br></div><div>Hope this help and is clear, and my English not too poor 😉</div><div><br></div><div>Regards, </div><div>Jean-Pierre Zuate <br><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">Le dim. 26 août 2018 à 11:15, <a href="mailto:daveh471@gmail.com">daveh471@gmail.com</a> <<a href="mailto:daveh471@gmail.com">daveh471@gmail.com</a>> a écrit :<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">Hi,<br>
We have lots of C batch programs that connect to Ingres, currently they <br>
run on the same host as the db server. We'd like to split them up so <br>
the Ingres db runs on separate hardware.<br>
<br>
Currently the code connects to a plain database name 'db-live', <br>
unfortunately this has been hardcoded into lots of scripts / programs <br>
rather than having a central shared parameter.<br>
<br>
Is it possible inject a vnode into this e.g. newhost::db-live with <br>
out changing the connection string in the code? Recompiling and <br>
redeploying all the code would be difficult at best.<br>
<br>
So 'db-live' would become an alias for an Ingres.Net connection <br>
'newhost::db-live' that would direct off to the remote host somehow.<br>
<br>
Can we setup an Ingres.NET installation that accepts connections locally <br>
and transparently routes them off to the remote server?<br>
<br>
Or any other ideas?<br>
<br>
Thanks.<br>
