<p>I would have said it was probably a combination of:</p>

<ul>
<li>Linux...where I work we have been using Linux for about 5 years...and it's still regarded as 'not Windows'</li>
<li>Ingres - not a lot of visibility these days...forget the technical quality - how many times do you hear about Ingres? Postgres, yes; SQL server - ad nauseam; MySQL - of course; Db2 and Ingres..rarely.</li>
<li>Salary - probably a little low</li>
</ul>
<p>Hell, I would likely have applied if I were nearby, did not have an existing DBA job, and was not thinking of retiring this year - it sounded fun. </p>
