As Marty says. Since there's been some interest: We have a session table with a long, it needs some volume to provoke the problem. Its data is used to insert into a real table, then we truncate the session table and commit.
There are no errors at the front end, but they appear in errlog and a server_trace shows:

Changes appear to have beeen committed ok, so hopefully the errors can be safely ignored - Actian will advise us on that I'm sure. Their support team were very swift in reproducing the errors.
