Because the Perl Makefile.PL says it wants to.

In the past we've seen these messages when we've had Ingres version changes. A quick recompile normally solves the problem.

Avalanche is  Ingres Vector in the cloud. It's a Vector Hadoop offering. So you get all the Vector grunt without the upfront cost of the hardware or it's maintenance. I'm evaluating it at the moment to see if my existing Vector programs can simply connect to it and play. Which is why I need Perl DBI to function with it.

Hi Martin,
why do you have to compile Perl with libingres?
Isn't just installing the Ingres DBD (do you use DBD::Ingres or DBD::IngresII) from cpan sufficient?

By the way, what is "Avalanche" ? Maybe I'm missing something
