Hi Richard,

It’s a good idea to log a support call to Actian. It will be helpful to know
the answers to these questions:

Errors in usermod log?

Any sudden outages in that period?

Have you reviewed errlog.log?

Review dmfrcp.log for information about automatic recovery after sudden
outage.

Does the table have compression enabled?

MVC enabled for the database?

Suggest run auditdb DBNAME –table=XXXXX. Look for inserts/updates hitting
this range of values.

Do you still have a copy of the checkpoint and journals for the period
before the maintenance and after the corruption?

You will be able to extract a copy of the table and indexes for review.

Hopefully all tables are journaled.

Paul

Subject: [Info-ingres] B-Tree corrupt

Hello,

a customer had the following problem with II 10.2.0 (a64.lnx/100) 15031:

“the table xxxxxx seems to have been corrupted (especially the btree on
field group_code)

data could be retrieved with following query
  select * from xxxxxx where group_code > 5093690

but it was not possible to access them directly with the individual values

        select * from xxxxxx where group_code = 5093691
or select * from xxxxxx where group_code = 5093692

For those which were before group-code 5093691 the following query was
working fine

         select * from xxxxxx where group_code = 5093690

After recreation of the table with copydb the application is working fine
again .. ”

The problem occurred last Monday. The day before the following maintenance
tasks had been performed:

usermod db

optimizedb -zk -uuser db

sysmod db

Does anyone have an idea how it is possible and how to avoid such issue?

I would be grateful for any hint..

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Regards
