I know why it was changed, and it was a perfectly good reason.

Actian had acquired mutliple companies so they ended up with diverse
community forums (and not all products even had one), so they wanted to
harmonize around a single product.

Unfortunately it has become clear that Salesforce Communities (or
whatever it's called) is a very poor choice.

I was no fan of vBulletin. There was plenty I hated about it. But
I've had enough of the present site. I'll probably post questions on
it but I'm done with contributing.
