Our development builds internally have a hostname format of region-deptPMFKEY
No problem with the hypen.

Subject: [Info-ingres] UNIX Hostname, any issues with hypens in the name?
We are building a new UNIX box to run Ingres 10S and want to have the UNIX hostname as: lew-pay-t-db01 (i.e. with hyphens)
Someone was telling me that Ingres was fussy about having hyphens in the UNIX hostname.
Is this true?
is there anything I should be aware of when setting a UNIX machine name to host Ingres?
It is Ingres 10S running on Redhat6.
TIA Steve
