I think quite a few people at what is now Actian needed therapy as
much as any of us. So we can hope this is a kinder, gentler, better
administered way of protecting revenue.

It pains me to say it, but I think it's a necessary evil in the age of
cloud computing. And it does open up the possibility of one day
selling cheaper "starter packs" now that there's a way to make sure
they're used only by the target audience. (Stater packs are just
a day-dream of mine. I know of no plans to offer such a product.)
