I'd go along with that. 

People have muttered about--though never described--various hazards and
perils to doing -f, but it's always worked fine for me. 

In fact I'd be outraged if a documented feature of the product was still
not safe to use after about 20 years in the field.

(If anyone has a credible example of ingstop -f doing harm in a 10.x
release I would certainly like to hear about it. So would Steve, I
imagine.)
