Hello Allan

What version of Ingres are you running?

Your sample query works for me in the Ingres 10S Community Edition, based
off a table with a couple of integer columns.

Chris

Karl,

You have been able to create tables since , I think , version 6 (maybe 25
years ago??? :-) :-) :-) )
the report I have drops and creates at least 5 tables - it just does not
seem happy with count() - I use avg() successfully

thanks
Allan

you're allowed to create tables within it. You need to write a select
statement to get the data. You can do the create stuff using a script
outside report writer to create a temp table. Then query the temp table in
the Report Writer script.

I would have thought that create table was allowed in a .SETUP section.
It's been a long time for me as well, though, and I'm not in a position
right
now to experiment.

Maybe try declare global temporary table instead of create table?

Karl
