[Info-ingres] Mad crazy hackery

Hi Roy,
If msiexec.exe is looping then it will be trying to complete or rollback a prior installation of something. Once that is happy, it should be more compliant. However, there is always the possibility that this is a symptom of a sick installation and waiting won't improve it. Either way, hand installing bits of ingres is not straight forward and given that the machines state is not ideal, I'd want to be sure that the system was not going to give further grief before wasting manual effort.
Regards,
Ian

Subject: [Info-ingres] Mad crazy hackery
Is it possible, in principle, to install Ingres "manually" on Windows?
The machine I'm looking at seems to have an unwell Windows Installer Service and I can't find anyone here who knows that particular witchcraft. (It won't even install WinZIP, never mind Ingres.
msiexec.exe just sits there consuming CPU time.)
If there's a way to manhandle Ingres onto the machine I am willing.
Roy
