Yes, because it has to reconstruct the transaction structure before it
decides which journal entries need to be reapplied.  This looks like an
update to iirelation involving a non-journaled table.  There is some
weird stuff that goes on with non-journaled tables in a journaled
database, but I've not seen this symptom before.

What Ingres version is this?
